Summer Camp, 2024
The Geckos returned for another meaningful two weeks at their second home: Haritachala. This camp welcomed twice as many participants and volunteers, with even more love and connection. Thanks to a thoughtful schedule by Ammagaru and Sruti Akka, the Geckos explored beyond familiar grounds into the heart of Tiruvannamalai. The girls built on the dreams sparked last camp—through hands-on work at the Haritachala bakery and special projects that helped them envision their futures. Summer Camp 2, 2023
During the second camp in 2023 as well, the girls formed inseparable bonds over their two weeks. From singing randomly throughout the day to discovering hidden talents in outdoor games, their joy was boundless. This camp was unique, in that included several groups of sisters and friends who already knew each other well. Yet, rather than remaining in their familiar circles, the experience only brought them even closer. The warmth and care they received from Ammamma, Sruti Akka, and all the volunteers kindled a newly- discovered love for Haritachala—so much so that some began dreaming of making it a more permanent home. Summer Camp 1, 2023
A heartfelt conversation with Sruti Akka during the Gurupurnima celebrations in Shirdi in 2022 sparked a dream that would come to life a year later as the very first Giggling Geckos Summer Camp in 2023. Throughout the 14-day journey, the girls not only formed deep, lasting connections with one another, but also nurtured their love and devotion to Guruji and Baba, feeling more rooted than ever in Haritachala. From visiting sacred ashrams to joyfully painting the walls of GTR, each day was filled with meaningful moments of growth, laughter, service, and self-discovery.
